Ok, so I've proven I'm no good at this whole blogging thing. I can't keep up! But I am pretty good at keeping up with posting pictures of Dayton to the Picasa album. If anyone is interested....

We've been at Disney World for almost a week now so there are pics from that. It's been quite interesting with a 5-month old! I brought TONS of stuff and didn't use half of it. Dayton has done unbelievably well...even got to ride several rides! He loves being outside so this past week has been right up his alley. I'm ready to get back home to my hubby & get back into our "routine". Don't think we'll be making another Disney trip for 6-8 years!

Prayers please...
A local deputy with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office was shot in the line of duty last night (3-4-10). He is in VERY critical condition last I heard. Deputy J.R. Searcy and his family need everyone's prayers. J.R. is married and has 3 children who are all going through the most difficult time in their lives. I do not know them personally but my heart bleeds for them and I cannot imagine what they are going through at this very moment.
My husband is a police officer and every time he goes to work I worry. I worry if he's going to make it home at the end of the shift...I worry about what he will have to deal with that night...all sorts of thoughts go through my mind. For those of you that have husbands, fathers, brothers, mothers, sisters, etc. in law enforcement know what I'm talking about. I happen to have a husband & father in this line of work.
Everyone reading this please pray for Deputy Searcy, his wife and kids, all the OPSO deputies and all law enforcement everywhere. We sometimes forget how dangerous their job is. I get so angry when I hear people talking about how they write tickets to earn the city/parish money or how their egos are so big because of the "power". People with these types of opinions should keep their mouth shut until they go to work and risk their life everyday. Men & women in law enforcement do this every single time they put that uniform on.
Deputy Searcy---you are a hero in so many people's eyes. Thinking and praying for you and your family every minute.

Due Date
So today was my due date. But, as everyone knows, Dayton was born 10 weeks early. I am so thankful for the doctors and nurses in the NICU at St. Francis for taking such wonderful care of him. Dr. De Soler is amazing and there are just too many great nurses to even name.
Dayton now weighs 8lbs!! Wonder if that's any indication of what he would've weighed had he gone full-term. If so, I don't think I could've handled something his size coming out of me!! I was able to have a natural childbirth & skip the epidural but if he would've been a full-term baby I don't think I could have! I would've definately wanted that epidural.
Since Dayton's birthday is on Christmas Eve, we want to celebrate on another day so he doesn't get overlooked. We thought March 3 since that was his due date. Then we thought June 3 since that will be in the summer & 6-months after his real birthday. We have a swimming pool so some pool parties would be nice! What do y'all think??
Yesterday we FINALLY took some family pictures of all 3 of us. Why it took us this long I have no idea. Chuck & I rarely went to the hospital at the same time...or I wouldn't be decent enough to take a picture.
Lastly, I want to thank my husband for giving me such an amazing gift. Dayton is the best thing we could ever hope for and dream of. He's completely changed out lives & captured our hearts like you wouldn't believe. So...Thank you Chuck for giving me a teeny tiny spitting image of yourself!

OMG...2 months old!
My sweet baby boy is 2 months old today. I just can't believe how fast time has gone by. The 5.5 weeks in NICU were sooo sllooowwww while it was happening but it seems like last week that Dayton was born. & this may be TMI but the poor lil guy had to have his circumsision today :( He wasn't able to have it in the NICU because his white blood cell count was too low. Doctor said he did well but I feel so guilty. Maybe it won't hurt him as bad as I think it will.
On another note, my background is in honor of the upcoming St. Patrick's Day & my birthday! yay! (yes, I mean my birthday is on St. Patty's Day--March 17). It will be my first birthday as a wife and as a mother. I sure hope Chuck gets me something special...like DVR!! We are waayy behind the times in that respect. We have every channel imaginable...movie channels, HD channels, & whatever else you can think of...but no DVR!
Munchkin Market is tonight & I'm pretty excited! I hope Dayton is feeling & doing well enough that I can leave him for a bit...his dad will babysit. Although, is it really babysitting if it's your own child? That's all for now.

Pictures of Dayton
I've set up a site that I upload photos of Dayton to. I do better with this site than on facebook or this blog! You can see how much he's changed...& how much weight he's gained...& how chubby he's getting! I can't believe how chunky his legs & arms are now. I remember when they were as thick as my thumb! Amazing!
Dayton looks like his dad...nothing like me. The hair, the hairline, the nose, the lips, everything is Chuck! I was only the vessel. Maybe he'll have my height. :)
Hope this link works...first time posting one in a blog. (I just copied & pasted..didn't use the link button?!?!)

New To This
Well...some facebook friends convinced me to start a blog. Now I have to figure out things to write about....
I'll start with the most important...my 2-month old son Dayton! He was born December 24, 2009 & was 10 weeks early. He weighed 3lbs 8oz & was 17 inches long. He did unbelievably well & is definately a strong lil guy!! He spend 5.5 weeks in the NICU at St. Francis hospital. It was the hardest, most trying time I've ever faced...for me, my husband, my entire family. Dayton came home after 40 days in the NICU weighing 5lbs 10oz. He has continued to improve everyday & we are just thrilled beyond words that he's finally home. Our lives have changed so much & I could've never imagined how happy & complete Dayton has made me feel. Such a tiny guy creates very BIG feelings!
That's it for now I think. Hopefully I'll update regularly. Thanks for reading!
